Inside Michael Brown's Kit: Charlotte Tilbury, House Labs And A $4 Amazon Find.

Michael Brown is back on The Insider Edit for round two. He's a freelance makeup artist with 25 years in the industry, he started out on retail counters for the Lauder Group, then moved in-house at L'Oréal, and he's been freelance for the last 12 years, mostly doing event and red carpet work. We kick off talking about the reality of PR gifting (15 to 20 deliveries a week is his average) before going full kit rundown, complexion through to tools. We're also trialling a new segment where we'll put some of these products on a model's face in real time.

SPEAKER_00Can I tell you? I had such a good chat with you. I can talk as you now realize. And listening back, I was like, oh my god, I need to shut up.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know, because you can't have a silent podcast.
SPEAKER_00True, but also, you know, but then I felt so good when I heard people like Heidi and Max that have also had like a 25-year career. I'm like, we talk a lot because we've done so much, you know. So that's that's it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Mike joining me today because we're gonna do some kit favorites. Yep, but we're also gonna do a new segment where we're gonna use some of the kit favorites on model space.
SPEAKER_00In a real time scenario. Who doesn't love a demo? Come on. And not like a content creator demo where it's like the eyeliner starts and it's edited, just like, oh, it just finished. How did you get there? You know, like I hate that. It's like, well, how'd you get that? Where's the blend? We didn't see it go on. It's so edited. Yes. So this is gonna be a bit more in real time and see what I really love and what you love on a model.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited because I always get to learn about new products. Yeah. You get, I mean, you get everything, don't you?
SPEAKER_00Yes, I do. It is such a bonus, you know, to save money on kit. Obviously, it is insane to get products like there's a few here that haven't even launched in the country yet, and they've still sent it to me to trial out. So I love it and I'm so grateful. But also a lot. I live in a small one-bedroom apartment. I've only got a couple of cupboards and they're all full. So I was like, I just give away a lot as well. So we'll talk through that too.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's nice to give stuff away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_02It's really because I I mean I don't get anywhere near as much as you, but I get some stuff and I give it to my friends and my friends' daughters, and like if someone gave that to me when I was younger, exactly. Even now, it's so exciting.
SPEAKER_00It's funny how you forget because even when I was working for brands, I think in my original episode with you, I talked about um I always started on the retail floor working for brands. I was working for the Lauder Group for three, four years, and we got gifted so many products at trainings, and then L'Oreal, I was working head office, so I had keys to the cupboard. So I used to take things home, and then now being freelance, I've not paid for a thing in 12 years. So you forget the value as well. And now I give things to people like, oh my god, you sure you give me this bread? I'm like, yeah, take it. And sometimes I have some gift bags on my dining table and friends come around for a drink, like, can we open them? And I'm like, it's just a gift bag, like, I need to open them now. I'm like, oh my god, I forget the excitement and everything. So you've got to you've got to take back sometimes and go, we are very, very lucky to receive these products.
SPEAKER_02Very lucky. I mean, I know you and I both went to the Ness and Me again event with the perfume.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'm wearing that today, actually. I love that fragrance, yes.
SPEAKER_02She gifted so much. A whole range. Six perfumes?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and like you think about fragrances, the expense, and these fragrances are a little bit special because they're 100% natural, which I don't necessarily, you know, care about myself, but I love that I'm wearing that's natural. But for example, a friend of mine was breast well, is breastfeeding now, and I said to her, get those because she's scared about you know using a proper fragrance of alcohol content, whatever. And she went out and bought them because I kind of influenced her from the gift. Actually, I think I sent her one and then I kept the others. But yeah, it's amazing, like all those fragrances. Fragrances of the product. But we talk about it, see? So gifting is funny because some gifts she got, mm, I'm just not gonna use it. Yeah, and that's different. We actually went to an event, so it's kind of expected to get some kind of a gift bag. But that gift bag was just so generous. But then but then there's deliveries that come to my house sometimes. I don't even know that PR agency or that brand. Like, how do I even know where I live? Like, like, how do I yeah? It's just funny how things turn up my doorstep, and I'm like, I don't even know where that came from, you know. So how do we manage all deliveries? It is funny. My building manager is so lovely, he brings my mail to my front door because most of them are gift bags and big boxes, and he's like, You definitely get the most mail in the entire building. And there's probably, I think, 80 apartments in this complex. That's quite a lot. So I'm lucky that I've got him to bring it up and I feel safe as deliveries because so many people that don't have you know, like a place of business where people can accept deliveries, struggle with that, they go missing. Like a friend of mine, hers got stolen once. Yeah, so I'm lucky that I always feel that it's safe coming to this address, but it can be overwhelming because some weeks I'm working back to back, you're really busy, you don't have time to even go through it. Like you might have a little peek, but then you don't want to open it completely because you might go, oh, that could be a content moment, you know. So then I the dining table becomes this mountain of products where the last month I've been quite quiet. So it's been nice to be a little bit well, obviously I'd rather be working, but it's been a bit quiet for me. So it's actually been good to go. I can go through my gift bags and really properly go. Is that a gift for someone? Is that a kit favorite? I put it straight to kit. Yeah. Straight to kit, or is it I'll see how it goes kind of thing? So I've got a few little ways to do it. Yeah. Yes, and there's different places in my house, like the laundry's like I'll keep and I've got no room for you. Yeah, or or a really beautiful box or a gift that you go, oh, this would be a nice opening, like unboxing, which I know unboxing is a bit like ugh boring these days, but some of them are just so beautifully packaged.
SPEAKER_02Well, we both got the Walita.
SPEAKER_00Yes, the cake. I mean, if there's a cake or something, it has to go on the socials, you know.
SPEAKER_02Icing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the icing was good. But then also Charlotte Tilby, for example, their mailers are always over the top, like a slide out, and there's wording and there's things and there's magic, and you know, it's it's it's not just in a box. It's like, okay, that's a whole elaborate gift box that needs to go on the socials. Absolutely. Then something's come in a bag, some come not even wrapped. It's it's it's so different from brand and PR agency. And I'm not saying that you have to do this elaborate gift for us to put on socials.
SPEAKER_02You just have it has to, or you I feel like you just need a way to make it work, right? Like for you.
SPEAKER_00And also, there's no possible way I can show every gift. I get at the moment 15 to 20 minimum a week. Wow. A week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's so it's a lot. That is a lot. And some weeks more, some weeks a little bit less, but average is 15-20 a week, right? There's no way. Also, it's boring content. Like, no one wants to see me opening packages all day, every day. It's just like I only do it when I go, ooh, that's a new innovation. I've never seen that before. And I've been around 25 years. So for something to be like maybe the applicator is like, ooh, that's cool. Like Tarte has these new primers that have rollerballs built into the primer, and you're kind of massaging the skin. I'm like, that's cool. Yeah. You know, so that's when I did, okay, I'm gonna sit down and go through this because I've never seen that before. So I love innovation, I love something different. Maybe it's a texture, a shade, or if you've been seeing it going viral on social media, I'll do an extra post about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. All right, should we get into some favorites?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I mean, it's so hard because, like I said, I do receive so many gifts. What do I show? There's been so many, and everything I'm showing you, I don't think there's anything that's not that old, really, apart from probably the Fenty powder. Everything is really current. And as I said to you before, there's something I've got in my little kit right now that hasn't even been launched in the country yet. So I'm very lucky that people trust me, like even uh recently a sunscreen brand said to us, we're gonna launch this in three months. We know you love the old version. Can we send you the lab sample and give us your feedback? So that happens to me a lot. Brands go, it's only a lab sample, it's not even packaging yet, but can you just try it? Yeah, and it and it and it and you know, tell us your honest feedback. And I'm honest, I can't go, oh, it's fabulous. I got too great, you know. Well, they want that's why they are. But I love that they trust me. I'm like, okay, that's great. So I don't know what should we start. Should we start with complexion, maybe?
SPEAKER_02You start with complexion. Go through the face. Absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right. So look, Charlotte Tilbury and I just I just love the brand for many reasons. It's one of those brands I get asked this all the time, especially when you're out somewhere, an event and a wedding, and no one really knows you, and they go, What do you do for your living? You say makeup artists. Oh my god. People go nuts, and so many girls are going, what's your favourite brand? I was like, how can you see there's there's no way you can answer that because so many brands do things like some do good complexion, yeah, terrible eyes. Some do good eyes, good lips, terrible complexion. You know, it's hard to find a brand that can do everything, but I do think that Charlotte Tilbury. If I had to just go, I can never use it's pretty good for eyes, lips, yeah, I mean skin, yeah. They do everything pretty good. Anyway, I've been using the complexion of Charlotte for a long time, like the Hollywood Flawless Filter, the brand new reformulated airbrush uh foundation, the airbrush powders, pretty much my whole complexion is Charlotte. But there's one thing that I think people don't know about the Magic Vanish. Have you heard of it? It looks like a little mini press powder, and everyone thinks in my kit, oh my god, the baby powder, which they do do these for the little samples, but it's actually a brightening concealer. Mine's obviously everything he's used, guys. It's actually from my kit, it's not brand new. So Magic Vanish comes in, I think it's four shades. I mean the corrector. Yes. So you'd still do your foundation. I still do a proper concealer first, like proper, like let's get rid of the bag or the or the puffiness, you know, maybe use a peach colour to you know correct. But then this is more like my finisher. Once I do all the makeup and I go, you're done. I use it almost like we're done. We're about to set with powder, we're about to setting spray, and I get it and just pop it under the eye. Yeah. And it kind of gets everything blended together, but it's a real brightener. Magic Vanish. Now, one and two are my most used shades. One is more for my probably skin tone, quite fair. I'm quite fair at the moment. Two, probably maybe for you. And then three's got a real like peachy, real peach undertone. Then four is like almost orange. Okay. So it's real corrective. But Magic Vanish, I now can't do a makeup without it. Like, you gotta try. It's just something that is like, I know Tarte do something similar. I think NARS have a pot that's supposed to be brightening corrector concealer. But this one is just that that's number two, so it's your shade. It's actually a really beautiful texture. It reflects light, and I really notice it when I'm doing like photo shoots, people on camera. Because in real life, you might not see it when they're going to an event in daytime. Sorry, daylight. But when I'm on set or something, and I go, oh, she's it's three o'clock, she's getting looking a bit tired. I can redo that part with the magic vanish. Boom, you are alive, your under eye is fresh, it's bright, it's dewy.
SPEAKER_02Brings it back to life.
SPEAKER_00I can't, I can't. I've actually run out of number one. I'm waiting for the stock. I text Charlotte, yes, so not herself, not Charlotte's like, hey Charlotte, no, darling. No, I text the PR because I'm desperate for it because it's got you know so many events coming up. Yeah, they're like, it's in customs, we can't, we can't push it. So that's my favorite.
SPEAKER_02Wow, there we go.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, big one for that.
SPEAKER_02Love that.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Now, for also complexion, we'll go into like blushes, right? I'm a massive, massive blush fan.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right? Now, all my clients, I go, you're gonna get a lot of blush because it's just me. Now we can we can choose a really neutral colour. You don't have to go pink or peach or really bright, but you're gonna get blush. That's just my kind of aesthetic with makeup. Now, the House Labs glassy, they're called glassy blush balms. These are the ones. I'm sure a lot of you watching have seen these. They're a wind-up balm stick. Now, the most my most used shade is ginger, which is this one here. Yeah, Peachy Pink kind of had a baby, like a peach and a pink and a baby. It's kind of like, I don't know, it's not even salmon-y, I don't know. It's just like a beautiful kind of got like that top.
SPEAKER_02No, you can't even see it. Oh, it is a bit more, no, it isn't as top, is it? No. It's just so fresh. Yeah, it's it's a like a quite a neutral blush in a witch.
SPEAKER_00It's just so, it's it's out of, I mean, there's so I've got my my my kits behind me. There's like the entire range in there. There's probably 12 shades. Yeah. From bright orange to deep burgundies to brown. Like I think the cinnamon one, that's like your bronzy brown, the shade cinnamon. Beautiful that one. I use K, it's called Kahn or something, or KM. Okay. I use that on myself just to get like the glow. See the glow there, that's actually from this, but I really dull it down. So it's not like blush. Yeah. But there's pinks, there's peach, there's orange. Have a little go. There's burgundies, there's browns. It is stunning as like a glow blush.
SPEAKER_02It's good for this colour too is good for someone who's not a blush person.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's that that's why that's my most used. Like, I did a bride recently. I don't do weddings very often, but I did a bride recently, and it's like that first part of blush, it's like a layering blush. It's not full-on high pigment. No, no. So if you want full on high pigment in a in a in a stick form, maybe the NARS or the Charlotte Tilbury sticks are more pigment. But this is the most glowy, hence why it's called glassy blush balm. It is the most glassy blush. Like, I love it.
SPEAKER_02It gives you the glow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the glow. But speaking of house laps, I've got the powders. They sent me the whole range of the powders, and I must admit, this is my favourite, the peach, what's it called? Uh, well, Pomelo Peach. But I've got the hot pink, I've got the red, I've got the brown, I've got the normal pink.
SPEAKER_02I haven't tried these.
SPEAKER_00I can't go past them. So now what I do is I do the glassy blush balm almost in my highlighter step of the makeup. Just to give me a little bit of colour to see how the makeup's going. And then once I go, I'm happy with this colour, I then put the powder over the top to bring the blush alive. Try the texture.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's beautiful. And I've actually put it over the top.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, I'll put it over the top. I know Patrick Tarr, I love his by the way, the double, you know, the duo blushes gone.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Now I love those for a kit, and makeup artists would love it too, because it's literally a powder and a cream in the one packaging. They're in my back room because I still have them, but you know, because I get products so regularly, my kit doesn't change. Yeah, my kit is updated every three months, it's all new again. So a lot of wastage. But anyway, but he always says his technique is yes, powder first to get the colour on, and then the cream or the glow to dull it down.
SPEAKER_02Both make sense, right? Yeah, depending on who you are.
SPEAKER_00But for this particular, so for house labs, I do the other way around, the more traditional, which is like the cream first and it's over the top, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02I do I do love spectacular. Yeah. They are amazing.
SPEAKER_00They're not as well, actually now he's got a few hot pinks and the real ready burgundy ones. Yeah. House labs for me have a lot more colour range. Yeah. Like from orange to pink to peach to red to burgundy. His are all in that bronzy, whiny burgundy. There's no real I mean, there is one hot pink, but you know what I mean? It's not, yeah. I find House Labs's colour range, I think, better.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00Like, I love his textures and I love that it's all in one packaging. So if you're into one packaging, Patrick Tarr. But if you don't mind, I just can't get like I'm obsessed with the House Labs blush combo. I just can't.
SPEAKER_02That's your blush combo. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, everyone now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right, what's next?
SPEAKER_00Let's go to eyes, should we? So many product cards. Okay, now Charlotte Tilbury again, but these have been an absolute, no word of a lie, game changer. The new eyeshadow sticks. Now I've got all of them in my kit just there, but I just brought a few shades to show you. These are the exaggerized eyeshadow sticks. Now they had a global artist from Charlotte Tilbury in Australia recently. So Mecca invited me to Melbourne, to MechaVersity, to really see it all launching and happening, and it was a vibe. So I really got to experience not only my own thoughts of like trialling on my hands and everything, like I would do when a product delivery comes, I put it on my hand and go, hmm, nah, yes, no. She was obviously a pro artist, so she's worked for Charlotte herself. Her tips were insane how to use them, how to layer them. But she kept saying to me, you don't even need to put a powder over the top. You can literally use three or four shades and layer. Because in other brands I've tried that, they crease. And they say no creasing, but when you start layering, they crease. Now there's six matte, like these beautiful kind of matte shades, and then there's six metallic. So when I say metallic, it's not too glittery, but just a bit more frosty, you know. But the shades, like these torps and caramels. Now, have you tried them before?
SPEAKER_02I think I have.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. So I went to London in June holiday, but a bit of work. I was doing Royal Ascot the birthday, I believe. My birthday, but yes, Royal Ascot with Kate Waterhouse. I did seven glams that week, and I was like, God, to carry all my powder eyeshadows, it's just too much and heavy and powders can break. I only took the six glow and the six matte. That's all I took, and I did all my makeup for that.
SPEAKER_02They're not dry and chalky. You know how some cream eyeshadows make that dry.
SPEAKER_00I actually got annoyed because when I got to MechaVersity and saw the, you know, the all the uh what do you call the signage and the branding? That was like, it's a makeup artisan or sick. I was like, excuse me, you're trying to take our job. Don't say that, but yes, it they're marketed as a makeup artisan the stick because they really are creamy, blendable, buildable, and they last for hours and just yeah, they're they've been a game changer in my kit.
SPEAKER_02This colour looks like perfection.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the the the the there's like a cashmere or the cashmere something, and anyway, the colours are just beautiful. But I love that there's six, six matte, six sculpt. Before that, I was actually using the NARS versions, and the NAS ones are great. But when you start layering them, the cream on the cream, that something wasn't working. Whereas these I find you can layer, layer, layer, build, build, build, and they all melt together and are fabulously blended. So they're they're my eyes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I can't wait for that.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for Charlotte's. Another one for eyes is I'm obsessed with brown mascara lately. Now, look, not everyone can wear brown mascara. I did a personal client last weekend, it was her 40th. I know her through a friend. She is part Indian and she's got beautiful, long, you know, imagine the beautiful, long, dark hair, dark eyes, obviously a warmer, darker, deeper skin tone, black lashes, and she likes a dark eye. The brown wouldn't do anything for her because, you know, it's like that colour theory thing. You know, some people can wear red lipstick and black liner and black mascara, and it actually looks natural on them because of their colours and their skin tone and hair colour, right? Whereas a blonde, blue eye, fair skin, red lip, black liner, whoa, that's intense, right? So for her, a brown mascara, nothing. But a lot of my clients do have like a caramel hair, red hair, blonde hair or medium brown hair, and lighter eyes, especially. Whoa. Now, the Fenty, hella thick. The black is my absolute go-to. As I said in my episode with you, most of the work I do is a vent makeup. So even a little tubular, I need more. I need thick lashes, you know, for a vent makeup. Red carpet. I need like thick. So I use hella thick anyway, but this brown. I don't know if you can see it there. Oh, yeah, beautiful. But it's a good brown. Now, you know how years ago most browns were brown black.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00It's not brown black. It's an actual, you probably just can't see it in this line. It's an actual chocolate brown. Yes. Right? A chocolate brown. Not brown black business, because that's kind of the same as black to me, but a chocolate brown mascara. I use Fenty because I like the thickness of the mascara. The other one that I love is lash clash. I haven't got it here right now because I've run out. Lash Clash from YSL.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00That colour is even more orangey brown. So if you've got green eyes, for example, like a company with green eyes or your own green eyes, whoa. Because the orangey brown contrast. But brown mascara. Yeah. I just think you don't always need like for a day event and a beautiful day glam. I did this into Franklin recently. She's got light eyes. And it was filming on her farm.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00But she wants glam because it's filmed.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Just black mascara filming on a farm. I just felt like we just did layer, like a couple of layers of this brown, and it actually made her eyes more green, I think, than a black mascara. She was like, oh, this looks better than black.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know. But I'm just so into brown.
SPEAKER_02Colour maxing, isn't that what's happening at the moment? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I just think think about your colour, your person's whole colour theory, their skin colour, hair colour, eye colour, and do a mascara that matches. Black might not always be the best option.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wish, I wish black wasn't the best option for me.
SPEAKER_00But you'd probably probably be suited more black. Oh, yeah. I mean, you could go the black brown. I know like I've got the MCO Beauty Tubular, they do a black brown, but I'm just into a chocolate brown at the moment. Love it. M brown. Cycle brown mascara. The other thing I just got, now this is not new. Okay. But Benefit is a brand that we we all know Benefit. It's been around for so long. Yeah. They have gifted me and been invited to events for a long time, but not for a long time. And so I went to an event recently through Snapchat, and the head of marketing and I were chatting, and she's like, don't really see. You using March, or we see you do today's show segments, never benefit. I said, You guys don't send me anything. She's like, What? And I go, I think I've dropped off the list. I don't get anything. Next minute, the biggest box came, and I'm so grateful because I haven't used Benefit for a while. I forgot. Now, this is now what's the name? Mighty Fine Brow Pen. As we know, Benefit is famous for brows, right? But this one is a feather. So you can see it's got three tiny prongs there. You shake it, get the product out, and it comes on and just do little, like little feathering strokes. It's three little like, can you see? Yeah. It can't be three little prongs. It works out so beautifully, too. Yes. So there's so many clients, and I'm once again, I'm a brow purse. I like thicker brows. I brush mine up. Even to go to the gym, I brush my eyebrows up. I just love fluffy big brows, right? And yes, we know the Arky brow from Anastasia Beverly Hills. Insane 0.5 millimeter head, like it's so small. So you can do individual hairs. Often I'm in a rush though. Of course. Because clients are late. And often they're so blonde or there's not much brow hair there. So you're really building it, right? This has been a game changer. But and not game changer, time saver. Because if there's not much brow here, I can just use that and go cheek cheek cheek. And it's like three hairs in one. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02This one's 3.5.
SPEAKER_003.5, so lighter. This is a like 3.5 is the one I use the most.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because it's more that taupey brownie.
SPEAKER_02That's a great colour for you.
SPEAKER_00Oh, 3.5. Honestly, if you've got someone that hasn't got much brows or yourself and you want something quick, rather doing like obviously archie brow. 0.5mm. Heaven. But it's individual, individual, individual. I think it's more time consuming. This has been like dun dun dun dun.
SPEAKER_02This looks amazing.
SPEAKER_00Great. So thanks, Benefit, for the new gift packs. So that's ice. Now, going into lip, I think we all know that makeup forever, the artist pencils. Yeah, you obviously have them.

SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm gonna show you. So, Anywhere caffeine, I think you know, is the most popular nude. I think nearly every makeup artist I know has anywhere caffeine. I've worked with Chantel Baker before in Melbourne. She's like, duh, get the anime caffeine out. It's the only nude we use. Try that one. But there's also Limitless Brown.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00And it's funny that I wouldn't think about putting, because I use this for eyeliner. Limitless brown is a chocolate brown that I use a lot for eyes, either as a you know, tight line, a little wing, and I smudge it, or an actual liner smudged in. Limitless brown, right? But lately, everyone's doing this full-on brown lip liner, then getting an eyeshadow brush and buffing it out. Yeah. Game changer. Yeah. Limitless brown. What's the other? There's another brown one. The Endless Cacao?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00That's a torped colour.
SPEAKER_02Velvet or something. Or maybe this is the one I've used on my lips.
SPEAKER_00That's a brown brown.
SPEAKER_02I think I have used this one on my lips.
SPEAKER_00That's putting it's got a bit of red to it. Because I do a client of mine and she has beautiful, I mean, I don't even need to do much, but she does love that darker lip line and limitless brown. I'm thinking that's that's very dark. She goes, no, no, and then you buff it with a brush. I'm like, oh my god. Buffing it with the brush thing is amazing. But when you look at this, okay, I love my Anywhere caffeine. I love my Limitless Brown. And I'm never gonna not have them in my kit because I feel like they are the best, right? Yeah. Eyes or lips. But Charlotte. Once again, Charlotte. They have these lip contour duos, lip cheek contour duos. It basically, a slight shade difference, but it's basically limitless brown on one end, and it's basically anywhere caffeine on the other end. And when you have a look at it, it is basically the same. So if you're traveling, for example, when I went to London, I didn't take my makeup reverence, I just took all of these because there's other shades of these. There's a pink, there's a fair, a medium, a deep. It's basically in one stick. I think more brands should look at Charlotte and go, yeah, why don't we have lip duos? Because these days, people are using two lip liners. They are one for outer, one for inner. That ombre lip, the 3D lip, the blended blur lip, it's all in.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, very similar.

SPEAKER_02Great shade. And really and a great little tip for traveling.
SPEAKER_00I don't pay for it. So I'm gonna have it in my kit. But if you're an artist out there that is buying, or you just want it for yourself, or you're traveling soon, because even artists struggle when they go, like, say they do go overseas for a wedding or a job, or even not overseas, just just just flying anywhere. How do you condense your kit? Look for things like that. There are duos, it saves so much weight as well. Like for me, I took all these away with me rather than eyeshadow palettes. That was so much weight lifted off my luggage. I only took these. Now, everyone's different. I know you might want an eyeshadow, but I took not one powder eyeshadow. I just took this because I also knew the clients I was doing. So I knew that it'd be okay for their eye. I knew their taste. Yeah. Now, the last thing for lips, I think you and I are both very excited. House Labs have launched these lip lacquers. Can you hear the little ball in there? They love a little ball shade. So they're lip lacquers is six, eight shades. I don't know. Sorry, Garga, but I don't love the shade range. There's only three that I use, like the pinky version. This peach is insane. What's it actually called?
SPEAKER_02She's a Moby pinky colour.
SPEAKER_00Sheer petrol.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The dusty rose. There's a bright red, there's a plum, and there's browns and deep. It's quite for the makeup I do and the clients I have, a bit too deep for me, but this one. And I had a client the other morning that had to go on television. I did her makeup at 5:30, 6am. Probably did her lips at like 7am. Two hours later, she's on TV. The glow, the shine. It's supposed to be you pop it on your lip. Wait, don't, don't do that. The worst thing you can do is do that. You're supposed to let your lips not touch. So just let them not touch for a while. 10 seconds. And then apparently it will last for eight hours.
SPEAKER_02It I had to go. I tried mine on. I don't do it.
SPEAKER_00Because I saw you did a post on it.
SPEAKER_02And like the colour was so dark on me to the other bit.
SPEAKER_00It was anyway.
SPEAKER_02It I had to go upstairs and get an oil cleanser. Yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_00Even put it on your hands.
SPEAKER_02It does not come off. And you get you it keeps this shine to it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's supposed to be full-on eight-hour shine and eight-hour wear. I saw Sarah is it Sarah Tanno, Lady Garga's makeup artist, and she did a whole reel about them and she was showing how you leave your lips like untouched for like 10-15 seconds and then it will lock in and then you're done for the day.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Well, I didn't do that when I did it on me. I because I'm such a lip rubber.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02In my car, and it's like we're moving. And I'm like, what is this? This is sweet. And then I stopped and then it dried and it stayed. And I was I actually could not believe it.
SPEAKER_00Even Fashion Week, which is a while ago now, but I did a um, I was actually working with House Lab exclusively to do talent and clients going to Fashion Week. And that that wasn't even out yet. And they said, look, you can use these on the clients today and show the talent, but you can't post about it yet. So I actually did someone, Ali Simpson, beautiful girl, I did her, and I said, It's like three o'clock and the show's at six, but this should last you. And I went to that show that night, and she kind of goes, it's still on, it hasn't moved. So I was like, Great. So if you're looking for something eight hours, maybe a bride, but the shades. It's the shades. If there was more nude, kind of fresher shades. I mean, I only had that in my kit, the pedal, because now what I'm doing is even when I'm doing a brown or a red or other colour, I just put that shade over the top because it's quite neutral, the pedal. So yeah, that's my favorite. One thing that I was sent from Gasp Beauty, it's a makeup artist in uh Melbourne, and I don't think a friend of hers, Gasp Beauty, it looks like a little pen. The back of it comes with these applicators and they're all different shapes, like an angle or a pinpoint. But it's actually a makeup eraser. So it's kind of got like a micella water effect inside, and then mine's being used, obviously, so don't mind that tip. But if you like put a dab of, you know, the mascara dot, or your lip line has gone accidentally a bit too low, or maybe your eyeshadow underneath's gone too low, or mascara has smudged to the bottom of the lash line. You can actually have a couple of dots there, and you can go flick, and it's like it's a magic eraser, like it's a makeup eraser. And the one that this flat one here, you can actually use that and then like sharpen your lip liner edges. It is just, I don't know, it's been a game changer for me.
SPEAKER_02You can use it with your clients because you can just use different ones, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I but but but I got the micella water uh that the the antibacterial wipes in my kit, so I just wipe it after every use. But it is just like why I was like, why didn't I think of that? We all get the little micella water on a cotton tip. Yeah, often the cotton tip, the cotton goes on the face or it gets more smudged.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00I find with that it's cleaner, it is so clean, it removes it instantly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So game changer for me.
SPEAKER_03Gasp.
SPEAKER_00Now, I know it's not groundbreaking here, but sharpeners. I mean, we all need good sharpeners. I bought the old manicare one from the pharmacy recently. Yeah. Nut after about four or five uses, it all the lids kept breaking. So it was cheap, obviously, it's just manicare, no offense, manicare. But no, but makeup forever sent me theirs. It's just a little lid, and then you unclip that to release the little bin. I have never had, okay, where's something that needs sharpening? I mean, these are kind of brand new, aren't they? Anyway, maybe this one here, the Charlotte Tilbury. I mean, it just I've never seen something that just makes it so quickly pointed. Like, anyway, that if you can get the makeup forever sharpener, you will never worry about it breaking and snapping and the lead so perfectly done.
SPEAKER_02And then also it's got the little and quite a big bin.
SPEAKER_00And you know how some of them, like say the Manicare one, it just has that plastic covering and it always falls off in your kit. Yeah. And the shavings, I have had that in my kit for three months. It is never ever once, even with travelling overseas, it never ever opened up.
SPEAKER_02And it's chic, it's black. Yeah, it's you can't see that.
SPEAKER_00Make up forever. Thank you so much for sending me. And like it's such this funny thing, it's a sharpener. Like, big deal, but it actually makes a difference for us. We need these in our kit that are so high quality. Yeah. Now the last thing is tape. I'm pretty good now, especially after working with Ray Morris a lot. She's so good at doing like a little wing or a flick eyeliner. And like I've always done too, she always goes from the bottom lash line as your guide. Never have your eyes closed and try and do a wing when your eyes are closed, because when your eyes open, the whole eye area readjusts. For a lot of people, they're hooded or you know, it just won't work. If you follow the bottom line and use that as your angle and your guide, you will always get the perfect wing. And I try and use an angled brush. But for some people, they just want a wing, and you're like, a wing might not suit you the best because of your eye shape, you're a bit hooded or whatever, or you just still want it. And I'm like, how am I gonna do it? So just for a guide, I bought this on Amazon, it's just that kind of medical tape, I think. Actually, I think they use it for lash extensions. It was just this beautiful tape, but not like because everyone thinks don't use actual sticky tape.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_00The real sticky tape removes makeup and it can actually, you know, affect people's skin as well. So that one's really safe for the skin. It's not too sticky where it's gonna remove actual makeup. It's the best, and it's and it's so small that it just fits in the little line there, and it kind of gives me a guide on someone's eye that I'll go, oh, you're a bit not really a typical wingliner eye, it just makes sure that it's perfect and I can put things on it, and yeah, it's great. Amazon. I think it was like, I don't know, $4. Like those little things are key as well. But I do have real sticky tape in my kit. Okay, only if I'm using shimmers and glitters, and I want to remove the glitter and shimmer, but I wouldn't put it there because the sticky can actually be reactive for some people, like sensitive, and also it's too sticky, and I feel like it removes the foundation and everything. That that doesn't remove anything.
